After over a decade of collaborating with global development organizations — including the United Nations, FHI 360, USAID, PEPFAR, EpiC, Linkages, Google.org, Prudence Foundation, Girl Effect, Dove Self-Esteem Project, Centre for Appearance Research, Nutrition International, and Save the Children — the team at Galaktik Good decided that it was time to create impact on their own.
They wanted to create a digital space where Indonesian girls and non-binary young people could safely game, and explore their interest in gaming, without the fear of harassment or bullying.
It was important to the team that the space be more than just a stream for girl gamers: they wanted to create a trusted hub for the critical support, information, and resources that Indonesian girls and non-binary young people need in order to develop to their fullest potential.
In short, they wanted the space to be exactly the type of space that they needed — but never had — when they were young.
